Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford was born in America. She is an actor, singer and dancer. Some of her early Broadway shows included Wicked Legally Blonde Hair. As the character Essie in You Can't Take It With You she was awarded the Tony Award. Tony Award-winning actor Annaleigh Ashford has spent her career working alongside renowned directors and actors across stage film and television and she is continuing her award-winning collaboration with a variety of upcoming projects. Ashford in the near future will play opposite Kumail Robert Siegel's Hulu exclusive series Welcome to Chippendales which premieres the 22nd of November. Ashford is currently in the making for Searchlight Pictures' terror thriller Dust starring Sarah Paulson. The film is an Hulu Original and will be streamed via Disney DTC. It will be released in 2023, March. Ashford returns to Broadway and star opposite Josh Groban in the revival of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. The production is led by Thomas Kail and produced by Jeffrey Seller, the team which created Hamilton. Ashford's most recent part was that of Paula Jones on Ryan Murphy FX's American Crime Story Impeachment. It is based upon the national scandal which involved Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky, as well as Linda Tripp. Ashford starred for two seasons in the CBS popular comedy B Positive. Also, she was a part of the hit series created by Marco Pennette Chuck Lorre, that starred famous actors Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo Ben Vereen. Not a stranger to Broadway Ashford was awarded the Tony Drama Desk Award and the Outer Critics Circle Awards with her role as Essie. Sunday in the Park starring George Wicked and Legally Blonde is among her other Broadway credits. Ashford lives in Los Angeles & New York. Her birthplace was in Denver and was raised in Denver.
